That's the only way to gain recognition as a sight with it's own reputation.

Starting with SNF, which already is DfwGames event technically but we don't really use the name much, we can build the name with that and our other events like DID. We did use the DfwGames name on it last year but in this case we should make sure Flyers and such show DoaCentral/DfwGames presents: D.I.D. 2
We need Flyers for SNF. I think having the The Chief, Ice and myself we should be able to hold 3D tournaments consistently on Saturdays because it's the inconsistency that's hurt them in the past.
I have the beta software of the tournament maker pogram for us to test with starting this week. I'd say we should kick off the "DfwGames Triple 3D" tournament idea I've been suggesting.
Triple 3D should have DoA, Tekken and 1 of Either Soul Cal or Virtua Fighter each week.
We can play at Tony's but we should also schedule some of them in the North part of town. We can simply post the SNF schedule on our calendar here on our boards and link to it from DfwGames so people can see the SNF calendar a month at a time.
We should establish up front that we charge at least $3 a tournament and maybe once a month have a bigger one. Along with that we can take our flyer and seek to get some local sponsors for SNF.
Thoughts?

That's easier said than done, but from my own personal opinion, I would say a site face makeover would be a good start. Of course this doesn't have to take place now.
I think the idea of weekly Tekken, VF, SC and DoA4 tournaments at SNF would be a great start and the enrty fees shouldn't even be an issue. I just want to see it happen.

Yes, well Ice used to post SNF results on DfwGames weekly for a while and of course we send people to SNF from DfwGames events like our Soul Calibur Gamestop tourney, Cybertown competitions etc. But a lot of it is that we need to get that man PepsiTony to get on the web and post what's going on at his won site and not on Shoryuken alone
The weekly Triple 3D though is something we can do soon, although we need to coordinate it right now the MacDonalds weekly we're doing on Sat. Night. Perhaps the 3D on another day, like Friday for instance? There was an FNF at one time after all. Thoughts?

Hey Gang! Sorry for being late, but here is my two cents worth:
Judging by the conversation, I think that we really need to push the site's presence. We need to have a way for new people to be able to register if they like at each of these events. Having laptops available there will help out a bit.

I like this idea... FNF returns... 3D fighting in North Dallas preferably... the question is... where can we do it?... Morris has tossed around the idea of having several people host in rotation on a weekly basis... I'd be down to do something like that...

This is definitely the way we want to go but we need to calendar the events on a monthly basis.
Friday Nights and Saturday nights. Of course we're pretty much insanely busy right now with the amount of stuff we're doing but let's rock this. Is EP working on Friday nights now?

I don't think he is working friday nights, but I dont know what his availability for doing something like this is as he has other things going on in his life right now (that's from his own mouth). Would be nice to get him involved though.
I'm all for it... perhaps we can rotate in some of the new places we have been forming relationships with as well to fill in the month.

it's the 3D people that need to show up more, or at least *tell* the 2D people where they're playing at, so we know what's up - you know, some of us actually enjoy 3D games also! ;p

What do you guy's think about using YouTube to bring DFWGames.com to the media forefront? Basically running our own television show off of YouTube.
All we need is some cameras and a couple show hosts. We film the events, matches and anything else interesting that goes on at the events we hold and edit them in a gameshow-ish form to be viewed on Youtube in 15, 30 or longer if possible, minute segments?
Can it be done?

It could definitely be done... the length of the segments would be determined by the level of account we have (I think there is a 100mb limit if you don't have a directors account) vs. the quality of the video and the compression we use...
To that end though... there are a lot of things that can be done... We what we need is 1) a strong initiative to get those things done and 2) People to help do them...

The idea came about when I saw similar acts taking place on youtube with people basically trying to make themselves famous.
Anyway, we could possible get somthing started for the next event. I know we definately need to showcase top players and their matches. Having a host interview players before the matches and stuff would definately give it televised event feel.
Those are a couple of things I know we can do right away and then later build on as we progress.
Lets try it!

NeoPenny are planning such an event, but we need sponsors(for example purposes, just to make it clear).
That's not to say that we don't need small events like SNF. Having a consistant tournament season that the community runs all year long will make the scene competitive.

Running consistent events is definitely one of the components of getting the name out there. That is only one piece of a larger puzzle though. That's where collaboration between motivated individuals such as ourselves comes in. When we work together everyone benefits.
We would definitely like to work with you guys to help support your events. I will PM you my number so we can talk about the details.
